CAR-T Challenges: Early Storms and Long-Term Realities
CAR-T Challenges: Early Storms and Long-Term Realities: In this episode, we sit down with Katie Marcucci, DMSc, PA-C, CPAAPA to discuss “CAR-T Challenges.”
Objectives:
- Describe the most common early complications of CAR-T therapy: cytokine release syndrome (CRS) and immune effector cell–associated neurotoxicity syndrome (ICANS)
- Identify key strategies for early recognition and management of these acute toxicities
- Recognize important late complications of CAR-T therapy: cytopenias, infections, hypogammaglobulinemia, secondary malignancy, and BCMA-specific toxicities of IEC colitis, peripheral neuropathies, cranial nerve palsies, and Parkinsonism
- Apply best practices for long-term monitoring and supportive care of CAR-T recipients
